# When was Lendefi launched?

The Lendefi project started in December 2020 and the governance token [$LDFI](https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/lendefi/) was minted on the 20th of January 2021.

The Lendefi Protocol was originally developed on the Ethereum network. However, it became  uneconomic to remain on the Ethereum network and the protocol was migrated to the [Binance Smart Chain (BSC)](/lendefi-finance/faqs/what-is-the-binance-smart-chain-bsc.md) in August of 2021.
