# How is the project governed?

## Decentralized Governance <a href="#id-50c0" id="id-50c0"></a>

Lendefi governance, via a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (“**DAO**”), allows active participation of the token holders in the governance of the Protocol.

A pilot DAO was conducted in 2021 (see [announcement](https://medium.com/lendefi/lendefi-pilot-dao-now-live-a31e9b817fd9)) and will be the basis upon which the project's governing DAO will be created and managed.&#x20;
